Product Description

LHY Audio FMC – Fibre Media Converter

Break the electrical connection. Unlock cleaner, quieter sound.

The LHY FMC is a high-performance fibre media converter designed to introduce true optical isolation into network audio systems. By converting Ethernet to fibre and back, it breaks electrical noise paths and prevents interference from reaching your streamer or DAC—resulting in a cleaner, more stable digital signal.

Key Benefits

  • True optical isolation from network noise
  • Lower noise floor and cleaner backgrounds
  • Improved clarity, detail & separation
  • Smoother, more natural presentation

Key Features

  • Fibre Optical Conversion – Breaks ground loops and eliminates electrical interference between network devices.
  • Low-Noise Power Design – High-quality regulation ensures stable, clean operation.
  • Enhanced Clocking – Helps reduce jitter and improve timing accuracy.
  • CNC Aluminium Chassis – Provides shielding from EMI/RFI and reduces vibration.
  • Plug & Play – Simple integration with existing network systems.

What It Improves

  • Darker, quieter background
  • Greater instrument separation
  • More natural tone and texture
  • Improved soundstage depth and space
  • Reduced digital harshness

Ideal For

  • Network streaming systems (Roon, UPnP, TIDAL, Qobuz)
  • Users wanting maximum isolation from network noise
  • Systems with routers, switches, or noisy network environments
  • Audiophiles building a clean digital front end

Why Choose the LHY FMC?

Unlike standard IT-grade converters, the LHY FMC is designed specifically for audio systems. By introducing optical isolation and low-noise power design, it removes one of the most common sources of digital interference—helping your system perform with greater clarity, stability, and realism.

1s are still 1s and 0s are still 0s — but they sound better with the LHY FMC.
I’ve been experimenting with the digital side of my audio system, focusing on reducing common-mode and RF noise and improving signal integrity between my streamer and the upstream network switches.
I already use galvanic isolation via fibre optics between the Roon Core ecosystem and my Eversolo A8 streamer/DAC. I replaced the Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X SFP (running in switch mode) with an LHY FMC.
In other words, I’ve maintained the same network function, but moved to hardware specifically designed to minimise noise coupling through the Ethernet signal path.
The LHY FMC features a CNC-machined unibody chassis and extremely low RF and common-mode noise, with stable OCXO-based PHY clocking that minimises timing variation at the optical and copper transmission stages.
The Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X SFP sits in front of the Eversolo A8 and was already performing quite well, particularly after I started using a higher-quality iFi Power X2 SMPS.
LHY FMC improvements in sound were quite striking!
There was noticeably less digital glare, improved imaging, and a wider and deeper soundstage. The “speaker disappearing” effect became more apparent, especially on well-mastered records.
Although audio streaming is often debated, I see the LHY FMC as a cost-effective upgrade that can bring genuine improvements. It’s not a silver bullet, but it can deliver greater clarity, better imaging, and a more realistic presentation.
