A Dedicated Approach to USB Audio

The Reiki Audio JundoUSB Reference is a purpose-designed USB cable developed specifically for the connection between a digital streamer and DAC.

Building on the experience, materials and construction techniques developed for the flagship JundoStream network cable, Reiki Audio has taken a different approach to the specific challenges of USB audio. Rather than simply adapting an existing cable topology, JundoUSB uses a dedicated internal construction and purpose-designed terminations to address the relationship between USB signal, power and ground conductors.

Reiki Audio’s development philosophy centres on reducing conducted, radiated and generated RFI noise before it can reach sensitive digital audio circuitry. JundoUSB extends this approach beyond the network side of the streamer to the USB connection between the streamer and DAC.

Consistent Separation of Signal, Power and Ground

USB differs from Ethernet in the way its conductors are arranged and how the signal and power paths interact.

JundoUSB uses an innovative spaced construction that physically separates the conductors, maintaining consistent spacing between the signal, power and ground paths along the entire length of the cable.

This allows Reiki Audio to optimise the twist rates of the individual conductor pairs while maintaining the physical separation required by the USB topology. The result is a carefully controlled cable structure designed to provide effective noise rejection without relying on a conventional bundled arrangement.

Multi-Layer Shielding and Mechanical Control

Considerable attention has been given to the materials and mechanical construction of JundoUSB.

The cable incorporates multi-layered conductors, multiple shielding layers and mechanical damping, combined with directional grounding. Non-conductive acrylic cable combs maintain the carefully engineered internal spacing, while ceramic-coated, copper-lined plug cases provide additional shielding and mechanical control at the terminations.

This combination of electrical and mechanical design reflects the same engineering philosophy found throughout Reiki Audio’s range: control unwanted noise and interference at each stage of the digital audio chain.

Purpose-Built USB Terminations

JundoUSB is terminated with USB A to USB B connectors, specifically selected for the requirements of USB audio applications.

Unlike the JundoStream, the USB connectors are not angled at 45 degrees. USB ports are generally less densely arranged than Ethernet connections, so an angled termination is not normally necessary.

Reiki Audio is also developing a USB-C termination, which is expected to become available as a future option.

Hand Built in England

Every JundoUSB Reference cable is assembled, tested and packed in Reiki Audio’s own workshops in central England.

The manufacturing process is deliberately labour-intensive and relies on skilled technicians rather than automated production. A single JundoUSB takes almost half a day for assembly and testing, reflecting the complexity of its internal construction and termination process.
